Enhancement of Power Generation Capacities Through Implementation Of Combined-Cycle and Gas-Turbine Technologies at OJSC “Quadra-Generating Company”

The project is implemented at the following CCPs/GTP of OJSC “Quadra-Generating Company”: Belgorod Luch GTU–CHPP, Elets CHPP, Voronezh CHPP-2, Boiler House of the North-Western District of Kursk and Kaluga CHPP-1 located in the Central Federal District.

The project is aimed at expanding the generating capacity of OJSC “Quadra-Generating Company” (hereinafter OJSC Quadra) with a view to enhancing its electricity generation efficiency, increasing electricity output, and cutting down on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by employing modern energy generation technologies. The OJSC Quadra generating capacities are planned to be expanded through construction of four CCPs and one GTP with the combined capacity of 371.3 MW. The CCPs/GTP will use natural gas as the main and backup fuel.

The project substitutes the respective amount of electric power generated by less efficient energy generating capacities of the Integrated Energy System of Central Russia (IES Center), and also makes it possible to reduce heat production using the existing less efficient equipment.

Expected emission reductions over 2011-2012 – 1344 kt СО2e
