BWC together with its partners has installed a 22 kW gird-tie photovoltaic (PV) solar array to provide Moyo’s food market with renewable energy. As a result, the aquaponics system of the market does not use any additional energy from Eskom and showcases a sustainable and environmentally conscious way of living. Excess energy produced by the solar panels is used in the main kitchen, further reducing reliance on Eskom. The market is located in the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, Cape Town.

Commissioning date is December 2012.

Total energy savings are approximately 36 000 kWh per annum.
