PARTNERING WITH CCGS
During the course of 2009 BWC structured a deal with a Russian based carbon firm Climate Change Global Services (CCGS), whereby CCGS bought and equity stake in BWC. It was decided though on conclusion of the deal for the shareholders in BWC and CCGS to run with two separate companies in order to operate within Africa and South Africa as effectively as possible. It was thus decided to utilize BWC as a special purpose vehicle for Government related work with South Africa. To do so BWC went through its BEE audit process and successfully qualified as a QSE level company. The other company that was created to develop carbon related work within Africa and South Africa was CCGS Africa. CCGS are in the process of developing their global presence with offices now in Moscow, Archangelesk, Kiev, Johannesburg and Cape Town.
A bit of history on how CCGS came into being. CCGS is part of a Russia-Dutch joint venture, namely the 4RCap. The 4RCap's primary focus is on carbon credit development, social housing and large scale bio secure flower production (the largest flower producers in Russia). CCGS is also connected to another fund namely, Atlas Invest based in Antwerp, Belgium. The activities of Atlas range from investments in real estate, alternative energy (wind turbine production, Solar) to classic energy (recent takeover of Oranje Nassau Energy, oil assets in South America, etc) and a portfolio of different other activities.
ABOUT BWC
BWC was incorporated in 2007 by two close friends Roth Watson and Joost van Lier. Over the last two years they have successfully managed to build up a pipeline of potential carbon emission reduction projects, the first being an energy efficiency green field commercial prawn farming facility based outside Port Elizabeth. The project is estimated to produce around 4 million tons of CO2 reductions over a 10 year period.
To date they have managed to put BWC not only on the national carbon arena but also into the Sub Saharan African arena with projects in Tanzania, DRC, Rwanda and a few strong leads in Nigeria, Botswana and Mozambique.
If you are developing a project that potentially qualifies for emission reduction credits, we can generate maximum value for your project.
